Hi, I am Gregg. I work for a Japanese Pharmaceutical company as an Accounts Manager Specialised in Mental Health. I fell into triathlon in 2010 when I entered my home race Liverpool Triathlon. I was doing it for charity so I had to put on a good show. To be honest it was not as tough as expected and finished my first Oly Tri in just over 2hr 30mins. So from there I decided I wanted to crack long distance and entered inaugural IM Mallorca 70.3 and went just over 5hrs on my first try. So I thought right lets step up to full IM and go sub 10. This is my Achilles heel, I am coming up to my 5th full Iron Distance race in July which is Ironman Frankfurt and I have demons from 4 races to banish.
I can swim 3.8km in under 55mins and my fastest 180km bike split is 5hr 20mins but I am yet to complete the marathon in under 4hrs leaving me way short of my sub 10hr goal. Along the way of my Ironman dream though I have raced for Great Britain in the last two years European Championships in Israel and Turkey and finished 11th on both occasions. So what lies in store for 2014, only time will tell. I have a great coach in Alvin Cooney and now the support of RaceForce and Paddy Carroll who is my training partner and now RaceForce partner I hope to achieve my sub 10 goal. So watch this space!!!!
