Joe Skipper joins Team Race Force for IM Barcelona
September 10, 2014
We are excited to be supporting Joe Skipper and his lovely Trek Speed Concept at Ironman Barcelona in the next few weeks. Joe has already had a fantastic season coming 2nd in Ironman UK and is getting ready for Challenge Weymouth on Sunday. He has raced the Calella circuit in 2012 finishing 5th in 8hrs 23 mins and has plans to return with an even better performance.
Here is a little more about our not so average Joe:
Joe has lived most of his life in Lowestoft which is the most easterly town in England. As a youngster he was a member of the local swimming club and competed in triathlon events nationwide at age group level. He has won many local sprint and standard distance triathlons. He then turned his attention to cycling and soon became an elite cyclist riding for the BMC team in the UK. He rode in Premier Calendar and Tour Series events. His best win being the Eastern Region Road Race Championships in 2009. In 2010, he decided to get back into triathlons, specialising in the middle distance. In 2011 he was the British Middle Distance Triathlon Champion and came 2nd in the British Sprint Championships. In 2012 he started racing on the professional triathlon circuit and produced a string of consistent results at the half Ironman distance. This included a 5th place at Ironman UK 70.3. He also did his first Ironman distance triathlon where he finished 5th at Challenge Barcelona in 8 hr 23 min. This was good enough to make Joe the 11th fastest British athlete of all time at the Ironman distance Joe recently studied for a degree in Manchester where he trained with the Manchester Triathlon Club.
