Top 5 of 2014 - Moment number 5 – Supporting Knutsford Tri at Ironman Austria
December 27, 2014
We had a great group from Knutsford Tri travelling with us to IM Austria. Pete had travelled to Barcelona with us the year before and came back with some of his club to take on the long course again. We had Jo (the only lady of the group) Pete, Pete, Paul, Dan, Mark, Richard, Clive, Andrew & Guy (aka Rouge) all at different stages of their triathlon careers.
We were on hand to help in their pre-race activities and IM Austria is a tricky one in terms of logistics as the hotels are a few KM away from the Expo, swim start and the registration area where it all happens however we have a fab spot in the camp site opposite so our athletes use it as a base while they register, swim, go out on the bike course and chill out while watching our mechanics at work. There were a few memorable characters including Rouge who hadn’t really done any run training but sure enough he made it through, although he left us all slightly scared by introducing us to his pink speedos!
This was also where we first met Clive Reading. He is one of the loveliest people you will ever meet and our entire team fell in love with him. Clive was attempting to finish his first Ironman and was on track until the temperatures dropped and the heavens opened. Craig from our team searched high & low out on the course for Clive to give him an extra boost but he had made the sensible decision to call it a day. Clive was really disappointed by this but instead of giving up, Clive decided to give the Challenge Half a go in Paguera. Not only did Clive finish but he came second in his Age Group. An amazing come back and we look forward to seeing Clive again next season.
We thoroughly enjoyed supporting these guys in Austria. Every time we saw the Knutty Tri gang out on the run field we all got really emotional. It’s a very emotional day even for us!!!!
Thanks to all the Knutty tri club team members we have met this season. We have a bunch of you booked on for Roth next year and cant wait to cheer you along on Solar Hill!!!
Happy Anniversary Jennifer! 52 weeks!

I am really quite surprised that it's been over 10 weeks since Paguera. How did that happen?
I vaguely remember doing some training soon after; cruisi...
