Challenge Walchsee is a Half distance triathlon and situated in one of the most scenic places in the Austrian Tyrol with its spectacular mountain views and crystal clear lake. Walchsee is set on the shores of the lake at the foot of the imposing Kaiser mountain range close to the German and Italian borders. The area is famous for its welcoming, friendly locals as well as the scenery.
The swim is 1.9km long and the water is so clear you can drink it, but it may be a little bit fresh! The 90km bike course leads two loops (each 45km) through the beautiful region of Kaiserwinkl with spectacular mountain views. Altogether the 90km loop covers 1,100 m of altitude difference.
The four lap run is much flatter, but still has a few hills to keep things interesting! The 21km course heads around the lake along the promenade, past farmhouses and through alpine meadows, the Kaiser Massif and Lake Walchsee are always in view. In the heart of Walchsee you will find the finish line, next to the transition area with the beautiful view of the lake and of the Kaiser Massif and with an enthusiastic crowd . Kaiserchmarrn is famous for its delicious pancake dessert where you will find many at the finish line!
Frankfurt long distance
Frankfurt is the European championship course and a popular spectator bike course. The finish line ending in the heart of the old city. Visitors to the area can enjoy visting historical places such as the Römer, Paulskirche (Church), Frankfurt Zoological Garden, Goethe Museum, the old Opera House, several museums, and Alt Sachsenhausen.
The 3.8 km swim course starts in the quiet waters of the Langener Waldsee. The two-loop course has a short run between the laps. The water temperature is usually between 22°C and 24°C. The two-loop bike course which is closed to traffic takes athletes through the middle of Frankfurt, and into surrounding small villages. The course has many hills and is mixed with some flat sections is challenging. Many spectators come to cheer the athletes on over the 180 km bike course. The run course is flat over 42km and consists of four fast laps, which allow athlete to reach their PB marathon times. The run course is lined with thousands of spectators who gather along the promenande next to the river.
