Another Race in the beautiful Wales and where I thought the last event was quite Hilly I think this race has got a few more surprises for me in stock!
Time to re-design my game plan which most importantly means change my choice of Bike. My beloved Argon 18 wasn’t the best choice possible for the last event! I have organised a more suitable bike for this event. It has ridden the famous long distance ‘The Brutal’. So it’s used to the surroundings similar to the Conwy Middle and it managed to move around it’s owner of similar height and weight!
And then it’s just down to the engine…. The Llandudno triathlon was hard as I could not find my rhythm. Lots of uphill, followed by downhill x 4. I don’t do hills very well, I like working hard on the flat, keeping the legs going round and round. Being from Holland I have been cycling since I was young, not for leisure but a necessity. 45 minutes to school and back in the afternoon. Group riding every day being careful to not depart first as it was hard work on the front! No hills thou, speedbumps would be the closest thing we get where I come from. This being harder to fix as I can’t just borrow somebody’s engine..
I did decide to go with a strategy close to what I used to do, train whilst going places. When I ride to work I will no longer take the shortest route (with a small hill) but I do a bit of a detour to get one of the steepest hills in our area in. funny to realise how much cycling has changed for me, I would even think about cycling an extra loop when I was young, then again I never thought of cycling as training thou.
I am looking forward to a good race on Saturday because even thou the ride might hurt the beauty of it will ease the pain…
