I am a runner and regularly race 5 and 10Kms. I particularly enjoy trail, obstacle and cross-country running, recently completing 'race the train' which was the most fun I’ve had in a race before! Naturally, triathlon seemed like the next step and i'm always looking for a challenge. I decided to finally give it a go so this will be my first triathlon event and I am feeling the nerves a little! But, having worked this event last autumn with Race Force, I know how friendly it is which makes me feel more relaxed. The team at Xtra mile events always put on a good race day so I know it will be organised and there will be plenty of people to assist if needed.
The swim is what I am most nervous about but Wilmslow is in a pool which makes it ideal for my first one and even better that I can swim in my tri suit and not worry about a wet suit. The swim is first which is great, after that I will be looking forward to the bike and run. The bike is 24km so I am not too worried about this but I will be using a Carrera hybrid and not a road bike. Last year, I noticed all sorts of bikes being used from top end cervelos to lady’s traditional shopping bikes and everything in-between so this really is a good place to start in triathlon for any level of competitor. I told myself if I enjoy it then I will treat myself to a road bike.
The run is just over 6km so not a huge distance but running straight from biking is going to be new for me so I have been practising this and so far, my legs have got me round. It’s not about the finishing time though, it’s about enjoying it and taking part and who knows what this may lead too in the future!
This is event is perfect for those wanting to have a go at a triathlon and test the water! If you are that first timer looking for a friendly face then please come and say hello as I am feeling the nerves too! Or if you are an avid triathlete then come and share your tips. Race Force offer plenty of great race packages if you are feeling adventurous and looking for your next event.

I am really quite surprised that it's been over 10 weeks since Paguera. How did that happen?
